Living Under the Influence
This weekend’s 1st lesson from Act 1-21, verse 15 reads: “But others sneered and said, ‘They are filled with new wine.” According to the Biblical account of that first Pentecost day over 2000 years ago, the folks surely looked drunk, they sounded drunk, and they acted drunk. But, Peter denied it. He said, “We’re not drunk… it’s only 9:00 in the morning.” So, which is it? Were they sober as Peter said or were they filled with new wine? (Acts 2:1-21) The answer to both questions is yes. Yes, is really the only answer. They were sober, yet intoxicated. They were sober, yet filled with a new wine. That is the gift and paradox of Pentecost. So I want to ask you 2 questions: 1st, Are you drunk and intoxicated? Or, are you sober and intoxicated? There is a difference you know. 2ndly, what is your drink of choice? And, how is “your drink of choice” intoxicating your life?

A Prayer for Those Facing Economic Hardship, Mental Struggles, Depression, Bullying, Anxiety, or Persecution
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Heavenly Father,
We lift up those who are struggling today—those facing financial difficulties, mental burdens, depression, bullying, anxiety, or persecution. Remind them that You care for them and that You are near to the brokenhearted. Grant them peace in the midst of their trials, strength in their weakness, and hope in Your everlasting love. Surround them with Your comfort and guide them to find refuge in You. Amen.

“What Makes Home?”
The first words Jesus says to us in this week’s Gospel from John 14:23-29 are these: “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our HOME with them.” (John 14: 23).
